Free Vocal Range Test

Sing from your lowest note to your highest into your microphone. No install, no sign-up. In about a minute you'll see your lowest and highest notes, your range in octaves, and your voice type (soprano, mezzo-soprano, alto, tenor, baritone, or bass).

Your vocal range is the distance between the lowest and highest notes you can sing comfortably, usually expressed in octaves. It's the most fundamental number for choosing the right key for a song or picking exercises that fit your voice. This test uses the browser's Web Audio API and real-time pitch detection to analyze your pitch on-device — your audio is never uploaded to a server.

Your result appears on screen instantly, and you can share it or continue into AI vocal coaching to extend your range. For an accurate reading, use a quiet room, stay about 15 cm from the mic, and ease into each note with a relaxed, unforced tone.

How does it work?

  1. 1

    Allow microphone access

When your browser asks for microphone permission, tap 'Allow'. Everything runs on your device — nothing is recorded, stored, or sent anywhere.

  2. 2

    Start with your lowest note

Sing the lowest note you can produce comfortably. Once the pitch holds steady, your lowest note is captured automatically.

  3. 3

    Climb to your highest note

Then ease up to the highest note you can reach without straining. A live graph shows the note you're singing right now.

  4. 4

See your result & expand your range

Your lowest-to-highest notes, range in octaves, and voice type all appear on one screen. Share it, or use AI coaching to work on your weak spots and grow your range.

Frequently asked questions

Is the vocal range test really free?
Yes. Anyone can measure their range for free, with no install and no sign-up. You never need to log in, even to see your result.
Is my recording stored on a server?
No. Pitch analysis happens in your browser in real time, and your microphone audio is never uploaded to or stored on any server.
How accurate is the measurement?
In a quiet room, about 15 cm from the mic, holding each note steadily, it's accurate to within a semitone. Loud background noise or very short notes can introduce error.
How is my voice type (soprano, tenor, etc.) decided?
Based on your measured highest note and the gender you select, we map you to soprano, mezzo-soprano, alto — or tenor, baritone, bass — using common classification ranges. It's an estimate for reference, not a definitive diagnosis.
Which devices and browsers are supported?
Any PC, laptop, or phone with a microphone, using a recent version of Chrome, Safari, or Edge. In-app browsers (like Instagram or Facebook) may block the mic, so open the page in Safari or Chrome instead.
How can I expand my vocal range?
Consistent breathing and vocal exercises can widen your range over time. Bloom Vocal's AI vocal coaching uses your result to suggest exercises targeted at your weak spots to help you extend it.
